Resin & Clay

Polymer clay reacts with many glues and sealants.  Sometimes they seem to work at first but over time become sticky and gummy.  The right resin is a fabulous find.

There are resins cures under an ultra-violet light – like those used at nail salons. There are resins that do not need to be mixed. And there are two-part epoxy resins.

My favorite is from EpoxyJewelry.com.

It is a two-part resin which means you measure & mix.

BUT, it is perfect for small projects at a great price. It’s very clear with almost no odor (believe me, my nose can tell!) and I waste very little.

“Waste” is an important issue. Other epoxies require you to mix a specific minimum amount for the epoxy to cure.  Want a quick repair or small enhancement on a piece?  Your choices are to wait until you have more pieces to finish or throw out leftover expensive epoxy product.

My favorite epoxy can be mixed in very small portions. Being able to mix smaller amounts is very handy for small projects or when a little more is needed to finish the job. I’ve mixed as little as 9 drops with no curing  issues.
